After a challenging 2018 for retailers, the New Year looks set to bring further uncertainty.
So what trends could rejuvenate the market in 2019 and excite consumers?

Designer Customised Trainers
Customisable designer trainers will continue to be in vogue. With luxury brands looking to take customisation to the next level. A trend grown by Virgil Abloh and his Off-White label, in collaboration with Nike. More recent collaborations between Nike and Jerry Lorenzo (Fear of God) are also now ones to watch in 2019.
Luxury streetwear will continue to be a trend. Brands such as Balenciaga, Gucci and Louis Vuitton are embracing the change in consumer spending habits and striving to attract a younger demographic of customers. Not only has streetwear infiltrated the luxury market, it is now defining it.
Brands will continue to re-brand as they look to enter new markets, with Burberry one of the more recent examples.
Music in Fashion
With the success of her beauty brand, Fenty, Rihanna continues her empire expansion with the launch of her new lingerie brand, Savage. We predict music will continue to infiltrate fashion in 2019, with others such as Tinie Tempah bringing their unique twist.
As consumers continue to become more environmentally aware brands will need to keep up. Perhaps the greatest challenge for the fashion industry is to tackle the sheer volume and waste produced by cheap, disposable, novelty fashion. Some are overcoming this challenge by producing biodegradable clothing, with other brands such as Evrnu now breaking waste down to the molecular level and realigning it into premium new fibre.
Men will continue to demand more relaxed suiting, with cut and fabric becoming increasingly important. Brands such as Sartoria Panico have responded by producing comfortable styles such as their grey-flannel suit which better serves the times.

Maison Kitsuné – appointed the ex-Celine designer Yuni Ahn as Creative Director of their ready-to-wear collection
Salvatore Ferragamo – appointed Alessandro Corsi as their new CFO
Tory Burch – confirmed Pierre-Yves as their new CEO
